Dun & Bradstreet
The first step to working with the government is registering a DUNS number, issued by Dun & Bradstreet. This is free to do, and places your company in a nationwide registry of all business entities. As you establish and develop business credit, the D&B database will reflect the progress you have made and your good performance history.
Central Contractor Registry
Before you can sell to the federal government, you have to register your business with the Central Contractor Registry.
Small Business Administration (SBA)
SBA offers many resources for new and developing businesses. Businesses seeking to qualify for special status (such as HUBZone, 8(a), Veteran- or Service-Disabled Veteran Owned need to apply with the SBA.
